Creating A Morning Routine

Summer is here! It’s officially the first day of summer today, the start of the month and nearly the end of the year. Over the last few months, I’ve been inspired by the people I’ve chosen to surround myself with.

One of those people is Em. She’s come on board as my life and business coach and we’ve been working together on range of things to help me be the best I can be. One of the most important things for me right now is having a structured day and that involved creating a morning routine that sets me up for my day.

I’ve never been much of a morning person and I don’t enjoy waking up early so we started with three simple tasks

Get Some Exercise Or Do Yoga

I’ve never regretted getting up that little bit earlier to fit in exercise. Something about getting moving in the morning and getting the endorphins flowing really makes me happy. I’ve been going to early morning classes or heading to the Women’s Only area at Les Mills for a morning workout and switching between Ponsonby’s East West Yoga studio which is a 5 minute walk from my apartment.

Listen To Morning Motivation

I always find a good mindset to be crucial to having a good day. Every morning when I wake up, I listen to something motivational. I go out and sit on the deck and watch the morning sky or sometimes when I’m exercising. Whether it’s only a 5 minute Youtube clip or a 45 minute podcast, I do it first thing. For the most part, I’ve been listening to Tony Robbins who I love. Over the next few weeks I’m going to branch out and try a few others suggestions I’ve been given – Les Brown, Jim Rohn, Gabrielle Bernstein, Marie Forleo, Lewis Howes, Oprah Winfrey to name a few.

Eat Breakfast

You’ve heard it before – breakfast is the most important meal of the day and it’s actually my favourite meal of the day. However, sometimes as we all do, I get rushed and run out of the door with a hungry belly. Making sure that I’m eating a healthy breakfast is the most important part of my morning routine. If I’m not getting good food in me at the start of the day, I find myself slipping up all day and I get super moody – hangry vibes over here!

Most mornings I have eggs – scrambled, poached, fried – you name it! This morning I had scrambled eggs, smoked salmon, avocado, tomato and halloumi with a glass of V8 Original Fruit & Vegetable Juice which has a tomato base and is their lowest carb juice and has no added sugar which is perfect if you love juice in the summer. I’ve been having a glass of V8 Juice each morning, switching up the flavours depending on what I’m having for breakfast. Each glass you drink has one serve of vegetables and one serve of fruit so you’ll get your 5+ a day in no time!
