Zomato Restaurant Summit 2015

I’m a huge fan of Zomato cheap NFL jerseys – I am constantly using it to update my all of my eating out experiences (good, bad and anywhere in between). For those of you who have been hiding under b?ng a rock, Zomato is the world’s fastest growing restaurant search and discovery app that users can also rate and review. I was invited to the 2015 Zomato Restaurant Summit held at Shed 10, Queens Wharf in the Auckland CBD on February 23rd. The black tie event bought together over 200 seasoned restaurant owners, senior marketing professionals and industry visionaries. It also featured the who’s who from the New Zealand F&B industry, including Shane Yardley, Michael Dearth, Nici Wickes, Geeling Ching, Chris Barron, Nick Honeyman, Ben Grant and a host of other luminaries.

I was first welcomed into the reception area with a glass of champagne and began mixing and mingling with others attendees. Glasses wine from Babich included Gimblett Gravels Syrah 2013, Black Label Pinot Gris 2014 and Black Label Sauvignon Blanc 2014 along beer from Monteiths were floating around us Dinner on trays extending from wait staff but I found myself reaching for the Allan Scott Cecilia Brut NV. I felt relief when Maddy and Laura and their familiar faces but me at ease. There was a beautiful wall of hanging fairy lights that lit up the room and wish I had taken a selfie in front of it. Although there were many people there, I didn’t get the chance to talk to many other than a few people I was wholesale NFL jerseys introduced to briefly before being sat at our table. Laura, Maddy and I were all sat the same table. We were joined by Frank All & Dafne who handle the marketing for the IHG Group. I got to know them quite well throughout the night. I also had the chance to speak with the marketing manager of Sileni whose wine was paired with our first dish.

We started off our evening with this entree of Japanese-Spiced Tuna Tataki with Avocado, Squid Ink Yuzu Gel and Miso by Chef Shane Yardley at FISH at the Hilton. This was the most photogenic and was the most Instagramed dish with the hashtag #zomatosummit on Instagram. This was most definitely my favourite of the night and was just so stunning to look at! This was had a white wine match of Sileni “The Circle” Semillion 2010 which I very much enjoyed. For the beer match, Monetith’s Southern Pale Ale was on hand. Oh, and did I mention the wait staff bringing us the dishes and pouring our wine on the night were actual staff from Zomato? How cool!

Just after we were served this course, the first panel discussed the role of technology in dining out followed by Shane Yardley speaking about food trends in the New Zealand dining scene, both past and emerging.

As the night continued and the summer sun came to rest we were presented with this beautiful main of Roasted Veal Rib with Agnolotti Nero of Fiordland Crayfish and Heirloom Tomato by Chef Glen File Rome at Baduzzi. This dish was mouth watering at the meat was so incredibly tender. This dish was paired with the red wine Monte Antico IGT Sangiovese Blend 2009. Prior to this dinner I had consumed alcohol twice in my life (keeping in mind I am only 20) and neither times had that been red wine. I found the taste very different but I did enjoy it. The beer match was Monteith’s Golden Lager. I was lucky enough to be seated at a table full of joy and laughter plus everyone took photos of their food.

Following cheap jerseys the main we heard from the second panel who spoke about the importance of ‘dining experiences’ in the restaurant industry. As the night came to a conclusion we finished off with a decadent dessert of Layered Liquorice Cake with Raspberry, Chocolate and Sea Salt by Bjorn Svenson, Criollo. I cheap NFL jerseys feel like this was a really risky wholesale jerseys dish as people either love or hate liquorice. I can’t say I loved it not that I can really remember it but I do recall eating most of it. The Marina wine match for this was another red wine Babich Marlborough Pinot Noir 2013 and the beer match was Monteith’s Black.
This was followed by a keynote from Pankaj Chaddah, the C0-Founder and COO of Zomato. I had such a lovely night at the Zomato Restaurant Summit. I met new people, had the experience of tasting delicious food from some of Auckland’s top chefs and hearing learnt so much from the speakers. I’m so looking forward to the Zomato Restaurant Summit for next year!
