Fancy having a cheese platter with wine or perhaps ice cream from a cold stone ice cream bar while being 182 meters high into the sky with stunning 360° views of Auckland City? Two iconic New Zealand brands, Sky City and Kapiti have combined to create the new Sky Cafe experience. In partnership with Kapiti, Sky Cafe offers iconic local cheeses, ice cream, and beverages to enjoy with stunning 360° views at 182 meters high into the sky.

I was invited to the media opening of the Sky Cafe the day before it opened to the public. We got to try out the cold stone ice cream bar along with sampling cheeses paired with wine and other delicious cheese treats on offer.

The cold stone ice cream bar was my favourite. First, you choose an ice-cream from Kapiti’s best. You then get to choose from a selection of delicious treats including Oreos, marshmallows, MnMs, Kit Kats and more! The chef uses his tools to combine the ice cream and your chosen ingredients on the cold stone until your own custom ice cream creation has been made. My favourite combination was Strawberry & Cream ice cream with Kit Kat, MnMs and marshmallows. Yum! I was so in love with these that I was sneak and got myself two custom creations from the cold stone ice cream bar. They offer a large version of this on their men for $12 and you get three scoops of Kapiti ice-cream and three different candies of choice.

They also had an variety of Kapiti cheese for us to try paired with New Zealand wines and chutney accompaniments. They offer a three different beautiful cheeseboards on their menu each with three cheeses served with local bread and crackers for only $19. There were also toasties oozing with cheese to sample and they were the tastiest bite I’d had of a cheese toastie – sorry Mum! They have these on their menu for $11.

My boyfriend came along to the event with me which was so sweet. I love that he supports me with everything I do. He also made sure I didn’t overindulge!
